Code Like a Girl

Hey Everyone!

Thank you for your continued support, and an extra thank you to all of our new subscribers who found us at the Chattanooga Marathon Expo!  We sold enough hatts at the expo to reach our next donation goal, so thank you all again!

Today (well, yesterday for most of you reading this) is International Women's Day!  Today we recognize women for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.  After our last donation, we received a request for funding from the Code Like a Girl club at East Hamilton High School.  This club not only teaches high school girls how to code, but it gives them a space to be themselves without worry of judgement, and empowers them to pursue their interests in Computer Science and Engineering careers.  Women are extremely underrepresented in these fields, so to show our support, we are donating a Lego STEM set to the club.  This set will allow the club members to gain and improve their skills in coding and robotics engineering, and will also be made available to other teachers during the school day!

We would love to help establish more clubs like this. If we can be of help, please let us know!

What's next?  Well, we have lined up a few more requests for funding from schools like Rivermont Elementary, then we will be checking off schools on the Donors Choose page.  If you're wondering how you can help, click the link below to see which teachers are requesting funds!
